Junior Accountant

Aspen Logistics is looking for a Junior Accountant to join our Finance team in Germiston.

We are looking for a detail-oriented and driven finance professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and is ready to take ownership of key accounting processes. The successful candidate will support accurate and timeous financial processing and month-end execution across multiple entities, with a strong focus on cashbooks, reconciliations, statutory compliance, fixed assets and general ledger integrity.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Processing daily cashbooks across multiple bank accounts and entities.
• Maintaining daily cashflow schedules and resolving outstanding or reconciling items.
• Preparing supplier and statutory payment batches for approval.
• Preparing and posting month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments, interest and depreciation.
• Maintaining amortisation schedules and ensuring accurate GL allocations.
• Preparing VAT reconciliations and assisting with SARS and BURS compliance and submissions.
• Completing balance sheet, debtor, creditor and intercompany reconciliations.
• Maintaining the Fixed Asset Register, including additions, disposals, adjustments and monthly depreciation.
• Assisting with month-end schedules and management accounts preparation.
• Supporting billing schedules, financial recoveries and other operational finance reconciliations.
• Providing accounting support across South African and Botswana operations.

Minimum Requirements
• Matric
• Diploma or BCom in Accounting or Finance – essential
• 1–2 years' accounting experience
• Experience within the transport/logistics industry will be advantageous.
• Experience working with Botswana entities and BURS requirements will be a strong advantage.
• Ability to work confidently within a multi-entity finance environment.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with Eclipse ERP will be beneficial.
