Junior Refrigeration technician

Job Description:

The Junior Refrigeration Technician provides experienced, hands-on operational support to the maintenance and engineering function, with a primary focus on refrigeration systems and plant rooms within cold storage, warehousing, and logistics facilities.

The successful candidate will ensure that refrigeration plant rooms, cold chain infrastructure, and associated facilities remain safe, compliant, operational, and audit ready, supporting business continuity, food safety, and asset reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide day-to-day operational support to Maintenance and Refrigeration Technicians.
• Assist with planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive activities on refrigeration systems under instruction.
• Prepare refrigeration plant rooms and equipment for servicing, inspections, and shutdowns.
• Maintain refrigeration plant rooms and surrounding areas requiring hygiene, safety, and operational standards.
• Ensure plant rooms are orderly, hazard free, and compliant with site and legislative requirements.
• Support correct environmental controls within plant rooms (cleanliness, access, visibility, drainage).
• Carry out routine checks on refrigeration related components
• Identify and report abnormal conditions such as ice build-up, leakage, vibration, or overheating.
• Assist with de-icing and defrosting activities when required.
• Perform basic facilities and plant room upkeep tasks linked to refrigeration infrastructure.
