Job Description:

JOB DESCRIPTION SENIOR DATA ENGINEER
POSITION TYPE : Hybrid
WORKING MODEL : Permanent


A technical professional responsible for designing, building, and maintaining a data infrastructure, including databases and data warehouses, to ensure accurate and timely data access for analysis by other teams or applications, requiring a deep understanding of complex data systems and their implementation.

PURPOSE OF POSITION
• Contribute to the design, build and implementation of the mapping, ETL programming from the source systems to the Data Warehouse.
• To provide world class services in the modelling, design, development, preparation, implementation and optimization of Data Warehouses, Data Marts and Data Cubes in the financial sector.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Liaise with clients, team members and direct RedScreen reports to ensure: Project/s on track;
All issues are resolved.
• Draw up weekly deliverables defining what is to be completed for that week
• If applicable, assign deliverables to team members and monitor progress thereof
• Develop and maintain processes and standards to enable data access, reporting, quality and data management.
• Design, build and manage data marts
• Ensuring that any client work done is saved daily
• Attend daily meetings related to the project and their deliverables
• Attend and contribute to Weekly Client Demo sessions
• Accurately logging time entries daily and ensure other team members have logged their time entries correctly.

SKILLS REQUIRED
TECHNICAL SKILLS
• Overall 5+ years of IT industry experience;
• Minimum 3 years experience with ETL tools and data integration;
• Experience in the financial industry is preferred.
• Experience designing, building and maintaining data processing systems;
• Database design, data modelling and Data Warehousing experience;
• Good understanding and knowledge of SSIS, SSRS and SSAS;
• Strong SQL skills;
• Linux / python experience
• Hadoop / Teradata (advantageous)
• AbInitio, Data Lineage or Meta Data (advantageous)
• Regulatory reporting (advantageous)

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum required)
• Graduates (B.Sc. computer science) or similar degree
