The Signage Manager is responsible for the overall management and delivery of the signage department, ensuring that all signage projects are manufactured, finished, dispatched and installed according to approved specifications, quality standards, budgets and required deadlines.
The role requires strong leadership, production planning, project management and client coordination skills, with a focus on ensuring efficient workflow and successful delivery of retail shop fitting and signage projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Production & Manufacturing • Manage the day-to-day operations of the signage production department. • Plan and schedule signage production according to project requirements and deadlines. • Ensure jobs are manufactured according to approved drawings, specifications and artwork. • Monitor production output, productivity and deadlines. • Ensure the correct materials, equipment and resources are available for production. • Identify and resolve production delays, bottlenecks and operational problems. • Ensure effective utilisation of labour, machinery and materials. • Monitor wastage and implement measures to control production costs
Project Management • Manage signage projects from order receipt through to completion and installation. • Review project specifications, drawings, artwork and bill of materials before production. • Ensure project timelines and deadlines are communicated to the relevant teams. • Coordinate with Project Managers, Designers, Production, Procurement, Dispatch and Installation teams. • Monitor project progress and provide regular status updates. • Escalate potential delays, risks and cost implications to management. • Ensure all project documentation is accurate and up to date.
Quality Control • Ensure all signage complies with approved artwork, specifications and quality standards. • Conduct regular quality checks throughout the manufacturing process. • Ensure finished products are inspected before dispatch or installation. • Manage rework, defects and customer complaints. • Implement corrective actions to prevent recurring quality issues.
Installation & Site Management
• Coordinate signage installations at retail stores, shopping centres and other project sites. • Ensure installers have the necessary drawings, materials, equipment and instructions. • Monitor installation progress and ensure work is completed within agreed timelines. • Ensure installations comply with site requirements, health and safety standards and client specifications. • Conduct or coordinate site inspections and snagging. • Ensure all installation issues are resolved and projects are properly signed off.
Team Leadership & Staff Management • Lead, supervise and manage the signage team effectively. • Allocate work and responsibilities according to operational requirements. • Set performance expectations and monitor employee performance. • Provide coaching, training and development to employees. • Address performance, attendance, disciplinary and workplace issues in accordance with company procedures. • Promote teamwork, accountability, communication and a positive working environment.
